Contributing Team

The Green Vision Foundation is focused and dedicated towards harnessing collaborative efforts aimed at contributions towards communication, education and public awareness raising as well as improvement of the general knowledge in support of the World Heritage Sites in southern Africa to the benefit of all educational institutions, governmental institutions, conservationists, environmentalists, industry, tourism related institutions in South Africa and internationally.
Specific objectives of the Green Vision Foundation include the following:
- To improve the knowledge about southern Africa and especially the southern African World Heritage Sites;
- To build and contribute towards the consciousness, identity and pride of South Africans through their deeper understanding of the South African natural and cultural heritage;

To contribute towards communication, education, public awareness and general interest in the southern African World Heritage Sites through raising consciousness and provide people in the regions of the World Heritage Sites of South Africa with a sense of identity in global historic terms, by highlighting and contextualizing the significance of natural and cultural history of South Africa from 2 billion years ago to the present;
- To share knowledge about South Africa with the rest of the African Nations and the world in the context of the objectives of UNESCO;
- To build pride in being an African and from the African Continent;

To create a sense of pride and ownership and thereby stimulate the need and interests of people towards conservation and sustainability issues related to the management of the World Heritage Sites as ecotourism destinations for the future;
- To contribute towards the perception of South Africa as a prime eco-tourist destination, given its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage;

To bring the beauty and significance of the World Heritage Sites of South Africa into the educational institutions world wide in a format which can be shared, enjoyed and treasured with pride.
In the execution of the mission and objectives, support, facilities and infrastructure is provided by Green Vision Productions, with a team of collaborating photographers actively involved in domains of cultural history, natural history and wildlife photography and videography in southern Africa. Green Vision Productions have associates and extensive collaborating teams contributing towards the development of visual digital repositories for stock photography as well as HDV and HD video stock footage and film production.

Marna is one of the founding members of the Green Vision Foundation. With a keen interest in natural and cultural history, she compiled the publication "Essence of a Land: South Africa and its World Heritage Sites" (Edited by Max du Preez, Photography by Tim Hauf). Marna has traveled the world extensively and has a true passion for nature, especially the underwater world. As a dedicated conservationist, Marna is also a keen photographer and recently completed a course in film making as presented by the Wildlife Film Academy in Cape Town. Marna will lead the team as Project Manager and contributing photographer throughout the project.

Tim Hauf - has traveled to many remote corners of the planet with a desire to create a better understanding and appreciation of the world around us through photography. He has published several best-selling books featuring unique destinations such as the trek to Everest Base Camp in the Himalaya of Nepal; South America`s remote Patagonia region at the southern tip of the continent; Manitoba Canada`s wilderness; and the Channel Islands, off the coast of California. His photographs have been widely published in travel magazines throughout the world including Islands, Sunset, Sea Magazine, Asia Pacific Travel, Explore, Terre Sauvage, Dove and others. South Africa`s uniqueness, as well as its dedication to the preservation of its cultural history, flora and fauna, and the unique and contrasting landscapes has a special appeal to him. It is this passion which he wishes to share through his photography and books.

Duané has just successfully completed her B.A. Sport Science degree at Stellenbosch in 2009 and is a newcomer to the Green Vision Productions. She will be using her talents and passion for people and nature in her photography contributions. Her adventurous spirit has always been present from her early childhood which lead to her passionate experimenting in photography which culminated in her winning her 1st Media 24 Photographic Competition in 2007 at the age of 18. She is well trained and takes the 360 panoramic spins
She has also recently completed her Photoshop workshop with much enthusiasm and eagerly anticipates participating in future projects as a stepping stone in her photographic career. Her immediate interests include gaining experience in video graphics and video editing and photography skills. |

Ernst is a botanist and the curator of the Kirstenbosch Conservatory in Kirstenbosch Gardens, Cape Town. He has been awarded the Senior Captain Scott medal by the Academy of Science of South Africa for his research on South African plants, the Dudley D’Ewes medal from the Botanical Society for the promotion of South African plants and the Hans Herre medal from the succulent society of South Africa. Ernst has authored more than 200 articles, co-authored numerous books including Wonderful Waterwise Gardening, Cotyledon & Tilcodon, Succulents of South Africa, Gaterias of South Africa and Vygies, Gems of the Veld. Ernst is making available his personal collection of photographs taken over 20 years of field research and numerous extensive hiking and climbing expeditions into the Richtersveld and the Cape Floristic Region of South Africa. |

A former journalist and Professor of Communication at the University of North West in Mafikeng, is best known for three books on South African innovations: The Hidden Edge, The Leading Edge and The Competitive Edge, and for White Water: The World's Wildest Rivers. He has published numerous articles on the Vredefort Dome area and is currently writing a book about the Dome and its intimate relationship with the Vaal River Basin. Graeme is currently leading a team involved in the mapping of the Vredefort Dome as a tourist destination and offers eco-tourism experiences in the area. Graeme is making available his collection of photographs of the Vredefort Dome, given that he is living and working from the banks of the Vaal River, Parys, situated in the Vredefort Dome area

Cecil has been a keen photographer since childhood, he developed his first black and white photographs when he was 14 years old. He has been a photography enthusiast ever since. Cecil has switched to digital photography and the Photoshop “dark room” over the last 10 years. He describes himself as a “pure bred Nikon fan – to the core”. Cecil is involved in all types of photography, but has a preferance for technically challenging shoots which ranges from landscapes to action photography. |

Sian holds the position as Curator and Archeologist of the Mapungubwe Museum at the University of Pretoria. She obtained and Honours Degree in Archeology and a Post graduate diploma in Heritage Studies and Museum Science. She is studied as a restorer of low fired and unfired earthernware at the South African Institute of Objects Conservation. Sian has published numerous research papers and contributed to several commercial publications on the subject of the Mapungubwe Collection. She is also the author of Mapungubwe: South Africa’s Crown Jewels. Sian acts as coordinator of the digital photographic collection of Mapungubwe Museum at the University of Pretoria.

Emile has a passion to capture the less traveled destinations on video. His experience includes productions as far as the mountainous northern regions of Asia, but his true passion lies on the continent of Africa, more specifically the arid western regions, where few dare to go. He has a great admiration for the people, the fauna and flora of these regions – for their ability to survive and often to flourish in the most adverse conditions imaginable. Through his productions, it is his true desire to inform and educate all on the uniqueness of a less known and traveled, but precious heritage. |

Righardt has been involved in northern Zululand and southern Mozambique for almost eight years as a photographer, natural marine guide and conservationist. Believing that humans cannot care for and protect something they don't know and understand, his mission is to create conservation awareness throught articulating the beauty of nature through photography. He is a keen contributor towards volunteer conservation programmes. Righardt has a passion for nature, especially the underwater world. Righardt will be a key contributing photographer to this project.

| Maronelle Botes: Production/Administrative Manager |

Maronelle has been involved in conservation programmes on bottlenose dolphins and marine turtles for a number of years. Maronelle has extensive management, organising and marketing skills. Maronelle will contribute in the role of production and administrative manager, but also contribute as photographer on the project.

| Jabo Mkhwanazi: Logistics, Technical Support, Maintenance coordinator |

Jabo has lived and worked in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park all his life and has extensive knowledge of the natural and cultural history of this heritage site. He will contribute towards the project as logistics and technical support and maintenance coordinator. During the project Jabo will undergo extensive training to continue with the development of his photographic skills.

African Impact offers volunteer projects focused on making a measurable impact on the people and wildlife in Africa, while ensuring that the volunteers have a safe, enjoyable, adventurous, unforgettable and life-changing experience in Africa. A team of volunteers from African Impact will dedicate their enthusiasm for education and conservation associated with photographic skills to contribute towards this project in selected World Heritage Sites.

Gary has been involved in the conceptulisation and development of the internet architectures that make this project possible. By bringing together the talents and ideas of the different contributors with the digital highway, he is responsible for the ongoing development and electronic delivery of the website. Shonell is responsible for maintaining the photographic library content for the project including loading and categorization of photographic content.
